Magento is great for SEO
I speak to so many web shop owners who not only have the challenge of running an online business, but also battle daily with ensuring their website search engine friendly. I say that, some of them just do not realise that one of the main reasons they are not getting high search engine ranking results is because their website is not optimised for the search engines.
I have been in the web business since it all started. I remember that in the early days you paid search engines so you could be highly ranked! Then when I was at lastminute.com I remember employing an SEO expert that said "oh no, things have moved on, you must go through the mammoth task of putting in meta tags into each page" - we are going back some years, might I add. Now these days it is so, so much more - make sure your keywords are in the URL, the ,<H1> tag, the meta keywords, your <p> tag, put descriptions in your images in the alt text, don't repeat your keywords all over the website and so on and so on! This is a momentous task when you really have no idea what all this really means, I mean for goodness sake, all you wanted was to run a webshop, not become a technical expert too! Well, as luck would have it, Magento is here and that is what it helps you do.
Magento is already search engine friendly "out of the box". If you know how to fill-in an online form, then you will have cracked making your website search engine friendly. As long as the web company or developer that builds your website using Magento has honoured the Magento templates, then they will have created an online shop for you that the search engines will like too!
Magento ensures that the product titles are in the <H1> tag, the descriptions are in the <p>, page titles are coded in and so on. As long as you fill-in all the product details through the very intuitive Magento Admin panel, then you are ready to go.
Talk to any of our Magento Experts at Object Source and they will be happy to tell you all about it.
